This should be one of the most celebrated films of 2007. Hands down an epic tale of one man’s struggle against the world. This film can only be compared to Tom Hank’s Cast Away; and trust me it would put up a fight. Christian Bale is an absolute terrific actor who has immersed himself in this role in it’s entirety. The triumphs, the constant for hope in such a perilous place.

Jeremy Davies, known for his acting in ABC’s Lost. As well as François Chau who co-acted with Davies in Lost. Both amazing actors have joined together with Bale to act in the film. Davies for me had a shocking physique; in Lost he portrays Daniel Faraday who is a scrawny young man. But in Rescue Dawn he was literally skin and bones. I don’t know what kind of medication he was on to achieve such a state; but it was gruesome. The food they ate had very little nutrients what so ever: bugs, reptiles & maggots.

The film had an amazing intro scene where they show an orientation for ‘what to do’ when you crash. And the entire time they were making jokes as to what the actor was doing. But when the actual crash happened, the initial tips were utilized. But the end game came to wits; quick action and smart planning. Without their prior preparations they wouldn’t have made it out alive. To be honest i probably would have signed the document which said all that crap about his country; because in the end he would have been saving himself. Then again, we don’t know what would have happened if he signed the form. Would they have sent him to the same place but this time let the Americans know that they have a traitor so that rescue missions would be nullified.

It was an interesting film never the less; i was truly awe inspired by the way Bale acted. I’m definitely going to check out his ‘The Machinist’ which is a German film. I’ll have to watch it in subtitles; but personally i think it’s going to be well worth it. I’ve yet to see a Bale film that has disappointed me yet!
